We are working with a great reunion planning company called Reunions Unlimited and our organizer is Rachel Stewart. Rachel is helping us secure a venue, will be sending out the invitations, tracking RSVPs, creating the "memory book", handling check-in the night of the event, etc. The reunion committe will be in charge of decorations, slidehows, speakers, DJ, fundraising, etc. Between Rachel and the committee we think the reunion will be affordable and completely rock. If you have any questions please contact:

This is how we do it.....

Jill Davidson Mason and Deborah Dushku Gardner
Airband 1990

Another great moment for the Class of '90!!

The Gathering of the Minds!

Heather Bird and Coco Avey Gumacal Keri Williams and Mike Hatcher
Jen Aldridge and Julie Powell
David Fields and Callie Abbey
Steph Squier and Kimberli Hutchison Heck

In early March, a small gathering occurred at the home of Kimberli (Hutchison) Heck of former classmates ready and inspired to get our 20 year CELEBRATION started! Lots of discussion, laughter and some good ol' pictures were shared! Venues are being sought out in the Downtown area (Delta King, Sheraton, Hilton, etc), dates being selected, themes being discussed and general, HOW DO WE GET THIS THING ROLLING!

Pictures are definitely needed as we are gathering memories to share in a video, mini-yearbook program and for decorations! Please don't hesitate to send those to Kimberli Hutchison Heck at kheck@sanjuan.edu or Lori Britton Pfeiffer at lori.pfeiffer@yahoo.com! If you simply want to scan them or send as a CD, either would be so appreciated!

Keep looking back for more information!

Regards!!

Our life, our history....

Taken from the 1990 Decamhian...

"On Tuesday, October 17, 1989 at 5:04 p.m., an unexpected earthquake ravaged a 150-mile stretch of the northern California coast with a tremor that registered 6.9 on the Richter Scale. Destruction, devastation and numerous injuries marked the cities ranging from the Santa Cruz mountains epicenter to San Francisco. Although authorities predicted many more fatalities, only 57 deaths occurred as a result of the quake.

This natural disaster produced inspirational stories of courage and universal, heart warming concern of human kindness. Rescuers found one of the lucky survivors, Buck Helm, beneath the rubble of the Nimitz freeway in Oakland, who managed to stay alive for 90 hours before they discovered him.

'It amazed me that they pulled people out of it, when I realized the cement that fell was heavy enough to flatten cars to mere inches,' senior Kevin Kunkle said.

Around Sacramento, students were also affected by the earthquake. 'I looked outside in the backyard and the pool started moving and began waving,' senior Karen Giorgi said.

Tension-filled hours followed the quake for many who had relatives within the Bay area and the towns surrounding the epicenter. Concern for family members and friends caused jammed phone lines as speculative and periodic news flashes attempted to keep everyone up to date as to the latest events.

'My grandmother lives in Watsonville where the epicenter was, and the news kept talking about San Francisco, but they didn't give any solid information about Santa Cruz county and even though they told us not to call, my grandmother lives alone so I felt I had to,' senior DeAnna Tibbs said.

The earthquake left northern California in a state of shock as the citizens prepared to rebuild and reconstruct the segment of their lives, destroyed by the quake."

Time to dust off those pictures...

You know you still have that picture of Aaron Burkhardt getting cake smooshed into his face on the Redwood Deck...or how about that infamous Homecoming display of school spirit! It's time to dust off the ol' photos and bring them into the new millennium!

Your reunion committee needs your photos! Dig up any photos that emulate the fantastic spirit and hilarious activities and outings that took place between 1987-1990! Don't be shy...the more embarrassing, the better!

You may email these photos to kheck@sanjuan.edu OR mail a CD of photos to:

Hi alum,

If you like the idea of having the reunion on Homecoming weekend (which would allow for football-game-fun under Del Campo stadium lights) vote for October in the poll in the right hand margin of the blog. We don't know the date of Homecoming yet, but we can at least tally the number of people interested.

Great idea, Kim!

Thanks so much,
Steph Squier

A "Homecoming" Reunion?

There has been some discussion as to when we should host our "20" Year Reunion! Well, ladies and gentleman, Del Campo High School actually has done it.....they have their OWN stadium!! With lights! (Remember how that was promised soooooo many years ago?)

A traditional homecoming reunion would allow us to celebrate Cougar traditions as Alumni and take part in what has become a power house for football! Enjoy the Cougar Homecoming Game under autumn skies; socialize at a local waterhole while preparing yourself for the formal event Saturday evening! Homecoming dates for the 2010 year have yet to be calendered, but traditionally the event has took place in late September or within the first two weeks of October!

More details to follow! Share your opinions with your classmates! And pull out those Del Campo Booster BOXERS you know you have stuffed away!!

2009... let the countdown begin!

So it's official...we are less than two years away from our 20 year reunion.

In the next few weeks, this blog will be going through changes to serve as a reunion site. You might notice polls to vote on a preferred month and on a preferred location, as well as pictures, music, etc.

My main job is going to be to contact everyone I can through classmates, reunion.com and facebook to get their contact information, then to maintain the blog, help collect pictures from the masses, market the reunion on the internet and rally up people for this and that.

Thanks to Kim Hutchison Heck, Callie Abbey, Amy Klewkowski Givens and Stacy Solorio Costas for agreeing to be the local contacts for the reunion next year. It will be great to have them to nail down a venue, field calls, etc. If anyone who happens by here would like to help with the reunion, please let me know. I think we are good as far as getting the ball rolling but as the event gets closer we may need some extra hands.

It's fun to look through old yearbooks so if you still have them, sometime within the next year, start thumbing through them to get yourself in the mood... I mean spirit!

Thanks everyone,
Steph Squier
Hey Class of '90 Alums!

In addition to using classmates.com, reunion.com and facebook to track people down before the reunion, I thought a blogspot would be a fun way to also share ideas and pictures as we countdown to the big night. Please posts your comments and thoughts!
